Independence Day: Security beefed up in Abuja

THE Federal Government has taken measures to ensure a hitch-free celebration, as it deployed members of the security agencies to all areas of the Federal Capital Territory.
It was also gathered that President Goodluck Jonathan changed the guards in the Villa, where the celebration will take place.
Also, troops from guard brigade are conducting searches in and out of Abuja, stopping and searching vehicles.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that members of the Nigerian Police had been posted to strategic areas, with full patrol intensified in the capital territory.
At the Aso Villa where the anniversary will take place, security was beefed up, with Ammoured Personnel Carrier (APC) posted to strategic areas in Abuja.
Meanwhile, the Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ade Abolurin, has assured Nigerians of a hitch-free celebration.
He gave the assurance at the corps national headquarters, while addressing the management team on the need for adequate presence of men and equipment of the corps at strategic location and during the celebration.

He reiterated that the corps was strategically positioned and working assiduously to curtail any possible attack on government infrastructure and the good people of Nigeria, with massive deployment of personnel in strategic places in the country
